The Sanctity of Life
Our Stance
Shine for Jesus firmly advocates a pro-life stance on this polarizing topic. When another human being is living and growing inside a woman’s body, this precious life is uniquely formed by our Divine Creator, God Almighty, and is the life form of an embryo taking shape in her womb that He purposely created, in His image. Life begins at conception, and we adamantly believe that these irreplaceable gifts from God deserve a chance at life. God loves all of humanity and gives unique gifts to every single human life that will never again be given to anyone else. (See Choose Life post for more information.)
Biblical Principles
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;” Jeremiah 1:5
“I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.” Psalm 22:10
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:14
“My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.” Psalm 139:15
“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:16
“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” Psalm 139:17
Alternative Options
We understand that birthing a child is a life-changing decision that can be frightening for many women, leaving them feeling uncertain and alone, thinking they have no other option. However, the ability to get pregnant is such an incredible blessing from God that many women unfortunately do not have the opportunity to experience. There are alternatives to abortion such as adoption or foster care. (See the Pro Life and Fostering / Adoption references provided on the Resources page for guidance.)
